摘要

In individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD), chronic alcohol consumption is linked to left ventricular diastolic dysfunction (LVDD). It is uncertain how common (LVDD) is in the population of AUD individuals having comorbid adult attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (AADHD). The study population included a total of 60 individuals including groups with AUD per se, AADHD, and controls. We employed the timeline follow back assessment method to assess drinking behaviours in AUD individuals followed by an ADHD adult prompt questionnaire to categorize into AADHD group. We collected the age, height, and weight details from all the individuals, followed by 2D echocardiography to determine LVDD. Individuals with abnormal liver tests and other known cardiac issues are not included in the study. The peak velocity blood flow in early (E wave) and late diastole (A wave), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and LVDD among individuals with AUD have been revealed to be severe when compared to controls, and LVDD was much more severe among individuals with AADHD. In sociodemographic details, LVDD values between groups did not correlate. Diastolic dysfunction was observed to be more severe in AUD individuals with AADHD than in AUD individuals in general and controls. Our research contributes to the early diagnosis of cardiac dysfunction in these patients, lowering the risk of cardiac morbidity.
