<p>The goal of sustainable agriculture is to produce durable crops with as little negative impacts on environment as possible. Mycorrhiza are crucial components of sustainable farming due to the natural connection it forms between the fungi and plant roots. This connection enables plants to flourish without the need for excessive chemical fertilizers, which is a primary objective of sustainable agriculture. Mycorrhizal fungi offer a useful alternative for conventional disease management, particularly for diseases that impact underground plant organs. There is also evidence that mycorrhiza suppresses leaf-attacking pathogens. This review aims at discussing beneficial role of mycorrhiza particularly arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), a type of soil borne fungi which aids plant in absorbing water and nutrients and overcoming different types of biotic and abiotic stresses. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential of AMF as a biological control strategy for limiting plant diseases in future. AMF has the ability to defend plants against phytopathogen attacks, providing a sustainable substitute for traditional pesticide-based methods. This review endeavored to investigate how AMF symbiosis can help reduce agro-chemicals, mitigate various pathogenic diseases and enhance overall plant growth by ensuring sustainable farming practices.</p>
