摘要

Severe necrotic leaf spot was recorded on Datura plants grown nearby the experimental field of Division of Plant Pathology, Pusa, New Delhi, India during 2022. The PCR amplified sequence of the pathogen shared 95.93% similarity to the pathogen Alternaria tenuissima reported in Lanzhou, China. A. tenuissima, pathogenic culture was deposited in the Indian Type Culture Collection (ITCC-9246) and nucleotide sequence were submitted to the NCBI GenBank (accession no. OQ598696). When the susceptible plants were inoculated with isolated pathogen, the original symptoms reappeared and the pathogen was re-isolated and confirmed the Koch postulate. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of A. tenuissima causing disease on Datura in India.
