<p>The onset of a disease epidemic is determined by the interaction of three critical factors: a susceptible host, a virulent pathogen and most importantly a conducive environment over a specific period. To explore this, a study was conducted over two consecutive years (2021 and 2022) to assess how weather variables, viz., temperature, humidity, rainfall, and wind velocity, affect the occurrence of Leaf Blight in Orchids, caused by <i>Lasiodiplodia theobromae</i>, in the Indo-Gangetic plain of India. Dendrobium orchid varieties, viz., Sonia 17, Singapore white and Airy peach, were considered for the study. Maximum per cent disease severity of leaf blight was noticed during the months of March and April. The highest disease severity was observed when the minimum and maximum temperature ranged between 16.38 and 24.48&#xa0;°C and 32.52–36.97&#xa0;°C respectively, with 87.43 to 95.07% morning Relative Humidity (RH), 30.71 to 56% afternoon RH, 0 to 1.34&#xa0;mm rainfall and wind velocity of 1.86 to 4.91&#xa0;km/hr. When the meteorological parameters and disease severity were correlated, it was shown that the percentage of disease severity correlated positively with maximum temperature, minimum temperature, rainfall, and RH in the afternoon, while there was a negative correlation between morning RH and disease severity, irrespective of the varieties considered. It was observed that the severity of orchid leaf blight is greatly affected by a number of meteorological factors including temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, and wind speed. These findings will support researchers in developing predictive models for leaf blight outbreaks and support farmers in timely disease management interventions.</p>
