New report of Aspergillus niger causing necrotic leaf spot disease in money plant (Epipremnum aureum) in Pakistan
摘要
Necrotic leaf spot symptoms were frequently observed during September to February, 2024–2025, in host plants, Epipremnum aureum (Linden & André) G. S. Bunting grown in the lawns and plant nurseries. Repeated isolation of the pathogen, with consistent morpho-molecular characterization, align with the characteristics of Aspergillus niger Tiegh. Additionally, the pathogenicity test and subsequent re-isolation of the pathogen confirm the identity of the causal agent. This study concludes that A. niger is a newly reported pathogen responsible for brown leaf spot on Epipremnum aureum in Pakistan.
