<p>This study investigates the morphological and pathogenic variability among 35 isolates of <i>Bipolaris maydis</i>, crucial for developing location-specific disease management strategies. The isolates exhibited significant differences in colony characteristics, including color, shape, texture, and pigmentation, which ranged from olivaceous green to dark grey. Conidial septation varied between 6.0 and 9.33 with spore sizes ranging from 9.68 to 13.50 × 56.68–89.82&#xa0;μm. Sporulation rates varied widely, with counts from 9.00 to 37.33 × 10⁴ spores/ml. The isolates demonstrated differential growth on various nutrient media, with PDA showing the highest growth efficiency. These findings align with previous research, confirming the adaptability and inherent variability of <i>B. maydis</i>. This study underscores the significance of understanding pathogen diversity for effective maize disease resistance breeding. The presence of different virulent strains indicates a need for ongoing monitoring and region-specific breeding programs for managing maydis blight effectively.</p>
