<p><i>Colletotrichum lindemuthianum</i>, the causal organism behind anthracnose disease in beans, is a highly variable pathogen that affects bean production and durability of the resistant varieties deployed in a wider temporal and spatial framework. In this study, the pathogenic variability and shift in virulence among pathogen isolates of anthracnose of common bean were determined. Six districts of Himachal Pradesh were considered for collection of <i>C. lindemuthianum</i> isolates occurring in areas where bean was grown on a commercial basis. Following the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture’s (CIAT) guidelines, the pathogen isolates’ pathogenicity spectrum was ascertained based on disease response. A point scale with a range of 0 to 5 helped record the disease reaction on the infected seedling between the seventh and fifteenth days of inoculation according to Drijfhout and Davis (1989). The isolates were labelled into physiological races on their basis of CIAT bean differential cultivar reaction. The pathogen isolates were divided into 23 physiological races. Of these, five races—3, 87, 211, 503, and 631—were similar to the previously identified races in the areas where they were found, while the other 18 races were unique to the different production areas that were investigated in this study.</p>
