摘要

Glume discoloration disease, incited by the fungal complex is gradually emerging as a severe threat to the rice crop. A sampling survey was conducted in the Alappuzha district of Kerala during August 2022 to record the disease incidence and severity; and isolate the associated pathogens. Panicles with the typical glume discoloration symptoms were collected. Pathogens associated with the disease were isolated and their pathogenicity was established. Notably, one of the associated pathogenic isolates from the Paravoor location incited unique symptoms, distinct from those produced by other isolates, when inoculated separately. Further, the pathogenic isolate was identified as Microdochium fisheri based on the morphological and molecular characterization. This is the first report of Microdochium fisheri associated with the glume discoloration disease of rice from India.
