<p>Fruit drop in Kinnow mandarin caused by different species of <i>Colletotrichum</i> is a major bottleneck causing reduction in yield and quality of harvested produce. Morphological characterization of 33 isolates collected from different citrus growing areas of Punjab revealed that the fungus exhibited creamy white - light grey coloured colonies with an orangish conidial mass in the centre. The conidia were cylindrical, non-septate, round at apex with oil droplets, ranging in size from 10.26 × 2.77 to 15.70 × 4.82&#xa0;μm. Brownish black acervuli ranging from 130.00 to 164.30&#xa0;μm in length and 145.50–168.40&#xa0;μm in breadth with septate, erect brown to black setae was produced in only nine isolates. In pathogenicity test, incubation period was lowest (5 days) in isolate C-4, C-18, C-19, C-26 and C-28 and maximum area of lesion was developed in isolate C-19 (260.44 mm<sup>2</sup>) followed by C-4 (156.14 mm<sup>2</sup>) after 13 days of inoculation. The amplification of eight different isolates selected on the basis of pathogenic behaviour and growth rate in each cluster with species-specific primer CgInt/ITS4 confirmed them to be belonging to <i>Colletotrichum gloeosporioides</i> complex.</p>
