<p>Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) is extensively distributed worldwide. This virus has been reported in several economically important crops in Nepal, including tomatoes and cucurbits, but has not been reported in any ornamental plants in Nepal. In 2021, 2022 and 2023 marigold plants with symptoms such as chlorotic mottling, curling, deforming, and shoe-stringing were collected from different regions of Nepal. The association of CMV with these symptoms in marigold plants was confirmed by symptomatology, serology, and molecular analysis. To our knowledge, this is the first report of CMV infection in marigolds in Nepal. The current report could enhance the growers’ and researchers’ capacity to develop and employ appropriate management techniques to tackle the CMV in marigolds in Nepal and beyond.</p>
