<p><i>Caloboletus panniformis</i> was originally described from Japan. It was also known from China. In the present study, samples of <i>C. panniformis</i> were collected during macrofungal surveys in various coniferous forests of Himachal Pradesh, the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Sikkim. Identification was carried out after thorough morphological examinations followed by 2-gene phylogenetic analysis, confirmed the conspecificity of Indian specimens with <i>Caloboletus panniformis</i>. We report <i>C. panniformis</i> for the first time from India with detailed morphological description, illustrations, phylogenetic tree and comprehensive comparisons with related taxa.</p>
