Der Blick auf die Kinder – Krisen und Konflikte im Elementar- und Primarbereich thematisieren

We cannot imagine life without crises at the moment: the climate crisis, the coronavirus pandemic, wars and conflicts are also part of the lives of younger children due to the direct and media-generated impact. Crises lead to anxiety—both in children and adults. The central thesis of the article is that it is important to find a pedagogical way of dealing with crises and to to enable (younger) children to deal with crises in a way that is appropriate for them. In this context, the term “crises” is explained and followed by an insight into the current state of research on children and crises. In addition to the pedagogical approach in kindergarten and primary school, the didactically prepared thematisation of crises and conflicts as a content area of civic education in subject lessons is discussed. The focus here is on understanding contexts and dealing with the uncertainty inherent in crises. This is followed by considerations for further research on the topic.
