摘要

The present research evaluates the remediation potential of natural Na-bentonite, sourced economically from Fatsa (Ordu, Turkey), for the removal of Direct Blue 71 (DB71) dye from aqueous environments. Batch adsorption trials were conducted to assess the impact of key operational variables, including initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, contact duration, and temperature. Equilibrium analysis revealed that the experimental data aligned most accurately with the Langmuir isotherm model, suggesting monolayer adsorption. Furthermore, kinetic modeling indicated that the process adheres to pseudo-second order kinetics, pointing towards chemisorption as the governing rate-limiting mechanism. Thermodynamic parameters demonstrated that the adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic in nature, accompanied by increased irregularity at the solid-liquid interface. Consequently, Fatsa Na-bentonite emerges as a viable, cost-effective alternative to conventional adsorbents for wastewater treatment applications.
