<p>The present work describes an efficient, cost-effective; Eco-friendly Knoevenagel condensation reaction using more economically viable <i>N</i>-Methylmorpholine as organocatalyst under simple conditions. Stereospecific Knoevenagel condensation reaction was studied with a wide range of aromatic aldehydes with active methylene reagents (malononitrile, ethylcyanoacetate) in water at room temperature with excellent E-factor, Rapid reaction times (2–4&#xa0;min), excellent yields (&gt; 95%), avoiding of chromatographic purification. Recovery and recycling of nitrogen based catalyst reinforce our method as an environmentally benign and energy efficient protocol and it may open up the path for conservative industrial production.</p> Graphical Abstract <p></p>
