Impact of Heat Distribution and Nanoparticle Dispersion on Recovery Factor and Heavy Hydrocarbon Precipitation in Different Crude Oils Passing through Porous Media

This study investigates the impact of nano-sized ferric oxide (diameter 75–89 nm) on the physical properties of heavy (API = 21.45), medium (API = 27.9), and light (API = 32.96) crude oils. Experiments were conducted at varying temperatures (80–120 °C) and pressures (30 atm-150 atm) to assess the changes in viscosity, recovery value percentage, precipitation of heavy hydrocarbons, and molecular weight. The addition of nanoparticles led to a significant reduction in viscosity, ranging from 71.2% for light crude oil to 50% for heavy crude oil. Additionally, nanoparticle incorporation improved recovery percentage and precipitation of heavy hydrocarbons. These findings provide valuable insights into the optimal conditions for improving crude oil properties.
