Vanadium-based MXenes: synthesis, structural insights, and electrochemical properties for Zn-ion battery applications: a beginner’s guide

Vanadium-based MXenes have drawn considerable attention because of their unique structural and electrochemical properties, which make them promising electrode materials for zinc-ion batteries. This review examines the synthesis techniques of vanadium-based MXenes, emphasizing their structural characteristics such as composition, morphology, and surface chemistry. Additionally, the electrochemical performance of these materials as Zinc-ion battery electrodes is comprehensively discussed, covering aspects like rate performance, capacity retention and cycling stability. The influence of MXene structure modifications on electrochemical performance is highlighted. This review offers a foundational comprehension for researchers and enthusiasts venturing into the realm of advanced energy storage materials.
