Behandlung von psychisch belasteten Kindern mit expositionsgestützter Trauma-Akupunkturtherapie (EX.TRACT)
摘要
Children with mental disorders and those who have experienced trauma can be successfully treated with acupuncture even without exposure. If psychotherapy is necessary, it is only possible to a limited extent due to age-related limitations in language skills. The exposure-based trauma acupuncture therapy (EX.TRACT) method offers a good opportunity to treat children sustainably with few interventions. For this purpose, acupuncture is combined with trauma exposure and psychotherapy in five treatment steps.
Treatment protocolIn a preliminary discussion with the child and/or parents, the central traumatic situation is identified, which is then used as an image or visualization in acupuncture therapy. Physical complaints are also discussed.
During the acupuncture session, the overall constitution and physical complaints are treated first—in this case report with a combined treatment of acupuncture, osteopathy, and manual therapy.
The patient is then asked to imagine the stressful or traumatic situation several times. The resulting physical discomfort and aversive feelings such as fear, anger and annoyance, sadness, disgust, and exhaustion are immediately and largely eliminated with appropriate acupuncture points.
The goal of therapy is to reduce the negative feelings and memories of the situations associated with the trauma, resulting in a return to a positive mood.
Case reportThis case study presents a ten-year-old boy who developed various behavioral problems and physical complaints after the loss of his grandfather, his most important male role model. It shows how, after only three treatments using a complex combination of acupuncture and the EX.TRACT method, the boy’s wellbeing and behavior normalized significantly and sustainably.
