Mushroom - derived antimicrobials – a source of eco-friendly antimicrobial compounds against phytopathogens
摘要
Emergence of plant diseases and their sporadic outbreak requires continuous exploration of innovative solutions for disease management. Mushrooms metabolites possess diverse and unique bioactive compounds. Important class of compounds including terpenoids, steroids, phenols glycoprotein derivatives and polysaccharides are present in the fruiting bodies of mushroom fungi. This reason has led scientists to search for antimicrobials from macrobasidiomycetes in order to identify biopesticidal compounds to mitigate environmental pollution. This review will explore the different classes of bioactive compounds from mushroom fungi, extraction methods, characterisation of antimicrobial compounds and their mode of action on the plant pathogens.
