Towards Scenario-Cognitive: the Development Prospective of Electric Vehicles Energy Management Strategy

The scenario-cognition is the core way to promote intelligence and accelerate the ecology of new energy vehicles. Accurate scenario-cognitive is the basis of effective energy management, aiming at changeable traffic environments, complex driving conditions, and diverse driving behavior scenarios, continuously improving performance such as economic efficiency, acceleration, energy optimization, driving range, and battery longevity has become the inevitable demand for energy management strategies (EMSs) in electric vehicles (EVs). The advancement and integration of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation systems and big data processing provide effective approaches and advanced means for developing efficient EMS. This article reviews recent advancements in EMS for EVs, offering a comprehensive classification based on working principles, performance characteristics, regulation accuracy, advantages, limitations, and the degree of demand for scenario-cognitive. The article systematically compares the real-time performance, computational complexity, robustness, generalization ability, and overall effectiveness of various control strategies. Based on this, it discusses common issues, proposed solutions, and future trends in EMS development. It is considered that the integration of artificial intelligence, intelligent transportation and big data processing with scenario-cognitive-based iEMS will become a strong development direction, which is of great significance for realizing the panorama of “new automobile” development in which electrification pushes intelligence and intelligence accelerates ecology.
