<p>The quality of groundwater is changing day by day due to anthropogenic activity and serious concern over ecological system. Water is an essential component for living beings and also it required for potable water purposes. Consequently, water quality management to assess the quality of waters is an essential toward social development and for suitability for human consumption. The objective of this present study is to assess out the quality of potable water for municipality area of Ranchi district Jharkhand. In order to assess the physico-chemical parameters for municipality area of Ranchi district different instrument/methods were used. All physico-chemical parameters were investigated under IS: 3025 methods. The results show that most of the physico-chemical and microbiological parameters are within the Bureau of Indian Standard and World Health Organization values. Various statistical techniques are applied, and the t-test is introduced to examine the variation in water quality. The obtained results were helpful for quality management of water system for municipality area of Ranchi district Jharkhand.</p>
