<p>Numerous irrigation schemes are underperforming for various reasons. This study was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of Woybo small-scale irrigation scheme in order to enhance its productivity. Primary data, including flow data, canal dimensions, and soil data, as well as secondary data such as climate, agronomic, and other relevant information, were collected from the appropriate offices. For field data collection, farmers located at the head, middle, and tail ends of the scheme were selected. Flow rates were monitored using a Parshall flume and a current meter. The water demand of selected crops was estimated using the CROPWAT-8.0 computer model. The data were analyzed using empirical equations and Microsoft Excel. During the study period, the following results were observed: adequacy (0.77), delivery efficiency (0.83), equity (0.28), and dependability (0.25). It was found that adequacy, equity, and dependability were in poor status, while delivery efficiency was considered to be in fair condition. The overall efficiency of the scheme was 37.2% below the established benchmark. Additionally, the study revealed an irrigation ratio of 96% and a sustainability rate of irrigated area at 79%. In general, the irrigation scheme has been underperforming due to various factors. To improve the scheme's performance, it is essential to focus on enhancing water management practices, ensuring regular inspection and maintenance of the irrigation systems and strengthening the role of irrigation water users.</p>
