<p>With the evolution of agricultural production and the relentless pursuit of maintaining financial sustainability, several new renewable energy equipment such as photovoltaic pumping systems (PVPS) have come on the scene in recent years. However, the components comprising this alternative are quite sensitive to various factors, which puts more strain on the designer to overcome these issues to create environmentally sustainable equipment. In this work, the authors tackle a key topic of optimal design of the PVPS components satisfying two criteria by means of evolutionary algorithms and internet of things (IoT) based solution for predictive maintenance in rural application: data acquisition, monitoring, and supervision of an IoT-based PVPS. An inventive approach for data acquisition, smart monitoring and supervision of the PVPS based on an Arduino board and a Raspberry-Pi programmable computer is presented. The initial part of this article summaries the various PV pumping system architectures. The data acquisition and the monitoring and supervision processes as well as the cybersecurity solution proposed by a chosen platforms are described in the following part of the article. Finally, results are discussed from the point of view of the appropriateness of the proposed solution.</p>
