Comprehensive review of hybrid solar updraft tower power generation systems for electricity production in tropical regions
摘要
This literature review presents a detailed study of previous works in the field of hybrid solar power generation plants. The hybrid solar chimney power plant (SCPP) is useful for generating electricity, especially in tropical areas like India, Central Africa, etc. It is a clean as well as environmentally friendly source of electricity generation. As this SCPP uses renewable energy resources like solar and wind energy for power generation, the operating and maintenance cost is less compared to other methods like coal/thermal power plants, oil power generation plants, etc. Global primary energy consumption of the last few years suggests that the use of green energy resources like solar and wind energy is increasing daily. In this review work, a detailed study is performed about the various factors affecting efficiency of the hybrid SCPP like dimensions of the chimney (like height, cross-section area, a diameter of the chimney etc.), turbine, absorber materials, collector dimensions, etc. The design of the SCPP is based on the fundamental equations of conservative laws i.e. mass, momentum, and energy conservation techniques. The convection heat transfer phenomenon related to hybrid SCPP is studied in detail. The solar chimney equation plays a crucial role in finding out various designing parameters like dimensions of the chimney, velocity of air at various sections. The efficiency of the overall design needs to find out by using suitable formulae.
