<p>Crop modeling is an important and practical method to identify varieties with high potential and appropriate planting dates, which can potentially contribute to global food and nutrition security. Thus, in order to investigate the effects of cultivars and planting dates on wheat yield, this research was conducted with the CERES-Wheat model in two crop years (2020–2021) in the research farm of Karaj Seedling and Seed Breeding Research Institute, Iran. The first year was calibration, and the second year was validation. The research treatments were planting dates at four levels: October 12, October 27, November 11, and November 26 in the main plots and genotype treatments of two varieties of bread wheat, including Pishgam and Zare, were placed in the sub-plots. The comparison of the measured and simulated values of the model was made in the traits of biological yield and grain yield. The results illustrated that the range of R-Squared (R<sup>2</sup>) of biological yield was between R<sup>2</sup>=0.94–0.99, which indicated a high correlation between the calibrated simulation values compared to the measured biological yield. The highest R<sup>2</sup> = 0.99 belonged to the Pishgam variety on October 12 and the lowest R<sup>2</sup> = 0.94 was observed in Zare variety on October 27. The R<sup>2</sup> range of grain yield varied were between R<sup>2</sup> =0.56–0.96, which indicated a relatively high correlation between the simulated values. The highest R<sup>2</sup>=0.96 was related to the Zare variety on October 27, and the lowest R<sup>2</sup>=0.56 was seen in Pishgam variety on November 11. The model has been successful in predicting changes in biological yield and grain yield. Therefore, the model has a suitable ability to simulate wheat yield processes in 4 planting dates. Delay in planting date decreased the yield of two wheat varieties and to achieve the highest yield, October 12, is the suitable planting date. Therefore, after evaluating and calibrating the model using experimental repetition and reducing the root mean square error (RMSE), it can be used in planning the management of research objectives in Karaj city. Overall, the October 12 is the suitable planting date under the ecological conditions of this research, and other wheat cultivars were suggested that have similar characteristics with Zare.</p>
