<p>This paper develops the <i>E/R/S fr</i><i>amework</i>, a multilevel neurosociological model for understanding emotions as emergent relational phenomena constrained by embodied neural circuitry, shaped through representational processes, and stabilized by institutional embedding. The framework challenges the persistent dualism between biological essentialism and radical constructivism by integrating findings from affective neuroscience, evolutionary sociology, and cultural theory. At the embodied level, conserved subcortical circuits generate rapid affective responses that constrain cultural variation. At the representational level, cortical networks transform visceral signals into intelligible categories through interoception, appraisal, and linguistic mediation. At the institutional level, norms, roles, and rituals stabilize affective dispositions across developmental time, linking bodily states to culturally intelligible meanings. Building on the E/R/S scaffold, the paper formulates testable hypotheses concerning constrained universality, institutional calibration, directional plasticity, and dissociation. It outlines methodological strategies combining ecological momentary assessment, ambulatory physiology, neuroimaging, representational similarity analysis, and ethnography. By advancing the E/R/S framework, the paper moves neurosociology from descriptive synthesis toward a program of empirical adjudication, capable of bridging disciplinary divides and informing applied domains such as education, public health, and conflict resolution.</p>
