摘要

Bangladesh faces significant obstacles to women’s economic empowerment, exacerbated by societal norms and gender discrimination. Despite progress in education and economic development, women still face structural barriers to meaningful employment, underscoring the need for more inclusive, stable employment opportunities. Because of the longstanding norms regarding women’s appropriate employment status, Gender-Based Harassment (GBH) emerges as a significant factor, which adds to women’s vulnerability in the workplace and effectively forces them to accept low-wage and degrading occupations. Focusing largely on the Bangladeshi Banking Sectors (BBSs), this paper aims to examine the pervasive gender-based challenges faced by women bankers, including work-life conflicts and harassment, and to examine changes in women’s employment rates and GBH in the banking and finance sectors, and the correlation between them. The paper also proposes actionable strategies to foster workplace equity and enhance women’s economic empowerment. The study employs stylistic and discourse analysis to identify linguistic markers, such as deixis, modality, and figurative language, that construct collective identity. These stylistic patterns reveal how linguistic choices embody regional pride and cultural continuity.
