On Certain Similarities Between Discursive Psychology and the Writings of B.F. Skinner

  • Murray J. Goddard

摘要

In a classic paper by Willard Day, 10 specific similarities were outlined between the philosophical writings of Ludwig Wittgenstein and the writings of B.F. Skinner (Day, Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 12, 489–506, 1969). Using Day’s (Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, 12, 489–506., 1969) article as a template, the present paper first describes 10 specific similarities between Discursive Psychology (DP) and the writings of B.F. Skinner, particularly Skinner’s (1957/1992) book Verbal Behavior. Second, the paper discusses some collaborative possibilities between DP and behavior analysis, particularly in their alliance with the critical psychiatry movement. Finally, the paper discusses some possible reasons why the affinity between DP and current behavior analytic research may have been overlooked.
