Dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging in pancreatic cancer: a review

Pancreatic cancer is the sixth leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally and remains one of the most lethal malignancies. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), the predominant form of pancreatic cancer, accounts for over 90% of all pancreatic tumors. Early diagnosis and precise characterization of the tumor are crucial for treatment planning and improving prognosis. Dynamic Contrast-Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) has emerged as a promising imaging modality, providing quantitative and qualitative insights into tumor perfusion and vascular characteristics. This review evaluates current research on the application of DCE-MRI in pancreatic cancer, discussing its utility in tumor detection, staging, and prognostication. The integration of radiomics and machine learning in DCE-MRI holds promise for refining diagnostic accuracy and individualizing treatment strategies.
