<p>Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), characterized by its unique advantage of non-ionizing radiation and multiparametric imaging capabilities, has been increasingly recognized as a promising modality for pulmonary evaluation. Recent technological advancements in MRI hardware and sequence design have significantly improved temporal spatial resolution, enabling pulmonary MRI to emerge as a valuable complementary imaging modality to conventional chest computed tomography (CT) in specific clinical scenarios. However, critical challenges persist regarding the standardization of scanning protocols and the selection of optimal MRI techniques for various pulmonary pathology, which necessitate evidence-based guidelines to ensure diagnostic reproducibility. To address these clinical imperatives, the Chinese Society of Radiology took the lead in organizing experts from the youth group, cardio-thoracic group and MR groups, combined with clinical application experiences and domestic and international literature, to reach a consensus on the indications for pulmonary MRI, imaging technique, different clinical application scenarios and image evaluation, with the aim of promoting and facilitating the standardized application of pulmonary MRI in lung diseases, and enhancing the diagnosis and treatment level of lung diseases with MRI.</p>
