<p>In this précis of my book <i>Klasse. Die Entstehung von Oben und Unten</i>, I&#xa0;give a&#xa0;brief overview over its central claims and arguments. Class, on my account, is a&#xa0;form of socially constructed scarcity generated by status competition with hard-to-fake social signals. I&#xa0;explain why status competition exists, what is evolutionary rationale is, spell out some of the main ideas behind the “costly” signalling framework for understanding class hierarchy I&#xa0;develop and try to explain why class inequality, despite being an injustice, is very hard to get rid of.</p>

In this précis of my book Klasse. Die Entstehung von Oben und Unten, I give a brief overview over its central claims and arguments. Class, on my account, is a form of socially constructed scarcity generated by status competition with hard-to-fake social signals.
