Girl Empowerment
摘要
The development of a confident and self-determined sexuality is a crucial part of adolescence. Many girls and young women face particular challenges: insufficient knowledge about their bodies, negative experiences with menstruation, insecurities regarding pleasure and orgasm, unequal distribution of responsibility for contraception, and the pressure of unrealistic beauty ideals. These factors may have lasting effects on sexual well-being and mental health. Comprehensive sex education that integrates biological, psychosocial, and emotional aspects is therefore essential. Gynecologists play a key role in supporting girls and young women with questions about body knowledge, menstrual health, contraception, pleasure, communication, and body image, while encouraging them to adopt a positive approach to their sexuality. Creating open spaces for dialogue—including topics such as orgasm and sexual satisfaction—can empower patients and reduce barriers. Furthermore, parents should be encouraged to provide open, age-appropriate sexual education. A sex education approach that goes beyond risk avoidance and emphasizes the positive dimensions of sexuality helps empower girls and promotes sexual autonomy and long-term health.
