摘要

As early as 2020, Anthony Fauci, then chief virologist of the White House, postulated that the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) can trigger post-viral symptoms. What he may not have realized at that time is that it uses angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) as a “gateway” into the cell and can thus influence, among other things, the reproductive organs and sexual health. On the basis of case presentations from the clinical psychological or sexual psychological practice, an overview of the current data situation on possible post-infective effects is included: There can be cycle changes, changes in the entire reproductive tract, intensification of already existing symptoms such as endometriosis, dyspareunia, vulvodynia or new appearance of these symptoms. Even fertility as well as pregnancy can be impaired and some younger women can find themselves in the menopause from one day to the next. Even couples in fertility clinics can face major hurdles after an infection. There are currently conflicting data on this. The extent to which these changes will be transferred to future generations or whether they will be reversible over time and to what extent, could be the subject of further research. Conclusion: long COVID needs seamless interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary cooperation of all health professions in order to provide our patients with the greatest possible benefit.
