Warum leben Frauen länger?
摘要
The analysis of the gender life gap reveals that differences in life expectancy between men and women are not solely biologically determined but are significantly influenced by socioeconomic, cultural, and societal factors. Bourdieu’s four forms of capital—economic, cultural, social, and symbolic—provide a useful framework for explaining these complex interrelations. They highlight how social inequalities, gender-specific role expectations, and structural discrimination shape health opportunities and risks. Future research and policy measures should therefore increasingly aim to reduce these disparities in order to sustainably improve quality of life and life expectancy for all genders.
