<p>Advances in gene sequencing technologies have rapidly expanded our understanding of the human microbiome. The microbiome of the female genital tract is now well characterized, revealing distinct differences between the lower and upper genital tract. The vaginal microbiome is typically dominated by <i>Lactobacillus</i> species. In contrast, the endometrial microbiome shows reduced <i>Lactobacillus</i> abundance and greater microbial diversity. Studies involving infertile couples have demonstrated a positive correlation between the presence of <i>Lactobacillus</i>, particularly <i>L. crispatus</i>, and higher pregnancy and live birth rates. However, little is currently known about the interaction between the microbiome and the immunome in the female genital tract. Research in this area faces several challenges and requires standardized protocols to ensure comparability across studies.</p>
