Der Einsatz von „platelet-rich plasma“ (PRP) in der Reproduktionsmedizin bei endometrialen Pathologien – eine narrative Übersichtsarbeit zum aktuellen Wissensstand

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is per definition a blood plasma product with increased platelet concentrations that is obtained by plasmapheresis, usually from autologous whole blood samples. PRP is suggested to have an enhanced regenerative and immunomodulatory potential. This is derived from the high content of various growth factors and many other substances that can be released by the platelets. Variability in PRP protocols and in the composition of PRP represent an enormous challenge for the comparability of study results. They also significantly contribute to the fact that there is often insufficient evidence for the therapeutic use of PRP. Meanwhile, PRP applications are implemented in reproductive medicine, where PRP is used for insufficient endometrial build-up, Asherman syndrome and recurrent implantation failure (RIF) of unclear origin. This review is intended to present the possible mode of action of PRP in the areas of application mentioned, as well as the current evidence. The problems and challenges of PRP use in the field of reproductive medicine will also be discussed in detail.
