Uterustransplantation – wo stehen wir heute?

  • Michael Feichtinger

摘要

Over the last 10 years, uterus transplantation has developed as an effective method to enable women with absolute uterine infertility to become pregnant. More than 70 women have been transplanted worldwide since the initial successes in Sweden, and more than 40 children have since been born using this technique. While new minimally invasive surgical techniques have been developed to minimize the burden on living donors, some centers are conducting initial studies on post-mortem donations from multi-organ donors. Due to the increasing number of uterus transplants, typical complications and pregnancy courses are now known and are being published in international registry data. With the internationally growing number of uterus transplants, the question of financing this cost-intensive treatment is becoming increasingly significant. Especially in countries where surrogacy is banned as a therapeutic alternative, bioethicists advocate for enabling uterus transplantation for women affected by uterine infertility. Additionally, theoretical applications of uterus transplantation in the field of transgender medicine are emerging, which could lead to an additional increase in healthcare costs.
