La révolution de l’IRM prostatique
摘要
The benefits of prostate cancer early detection in healthcare have long been questioned due to the generally slow kinetics and late onset of the cancer. While PSA measurement in combination with non-targeted „random“ biopsies has already led to a gradual reduction in prostate cancer mortality – albeit at the cost of overdiagnosis and overtreatment - multiparametric MRI has significantly improved the quality of diagnosis. The unnecessary detection of indolent forms is effectively reduced, while diagnostic accuracy increases significantly, so that treatments can only be carried out in necessary situations (so-called significant prostate cancer). This article summarizes the development of prostate cancer early detection, which has long been criticized, and which has found a technical answer to the problem of overdiagnosis and overtreatment in the form of MRI.
