摘要

Maxillary sinus augmentation is carried out to gain vertical bone height in the posterior maxilla for dental implant placement. Schneiderian membrane perforation is the most common complication which requires careful assessment and repair for a successful implant therapy. Failure of sinus augmentation procedures usually occurs which necessitates reintervention. Herein, two cases presented with failed sinus augmentation and patients were managed by careful preoperative radiographic assessment and clinical manipulation. Treatment steps included enlarging the antrostomy for better access to the sinus cavity, covering the Schneiderian membrane with a platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)/ collagen membrane combination, and implant placement using either a simultaneous or delayed approach. This technique could provide better sealing and repairing of the membrane perforation defect and permitted successful rehabilitation with implant-supported restorations.
