Reliability and failure analysis of automated teller machines through Markov process
摘要
The main aim of this paper is to see how well Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) work and find out what problems arise when ATMs work. The ATM machine comprises of different components such as card dispenser, card reader, receipt printer etc. For the smooth functioning of this ATM machine, we will monitor the ATMs and gather information about their operations, such how many transactions they handle and how many times they fail. Markov method is used to design the mathematical model of the different stages of the ATMs—like when they are working, when they are facing issues, or when they completely failed. Additionally, some reliability indices like availability, reliability and mean time between failure have been calculated which will help to plan maintenance better. Sensitivity analysis is also done to examine which part break down most often so that one can prioritize fixing those areas first. Some graphical representation is given to understand the findings.
