Stress-strength reliability for discrete distributions: an alternative formulation
摘要
An alternative definition of the stress-strength reliability function is developed for the discrete stress-strength reliability models by taking into consideration the presence of ties. A unique template is also developed to evaluate any definition of stress-strength reliability function from a practical viewpoint. The proposed and existing definitions are evaluated using the criteria described in the template. Different estimators of the proposed reliability function are suggested and related inference is carried out for various combinations of discrete stress-strength distributions. Finally, we investigate the suitability of the proposed definition in the context of a real engineering and a real healthcare data.
