Harmony in security: a new unified compact TRNG cum PUF design (UCTP) for secure IoT devices
摘要
This paper presents a lightweight, dual-mode security primitive that seamlessly integrates Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) and True Random Number Generator (TRNG) functionalities into a single circuit. Designed for resource-constrained environments, the proposed architecture ensures efficient key generation and cryptographic support while minimizing power and area overheads. Implemented on a Xilinx Zynq-7 FPGA, the 64-bit design achieves high throughput (5.82 Mbps) using only 370 LUTs and 340 registers. It delivers strong uniformity (51%) and reliability (98%), and passes comprehensive randomness tests, including NIST SP800-22, entropy analysis, and Hamming distance evaluations.
