The article introduces Pythagorean Octagonal Neutrosophic Fuzzy Numbers (PONFN) for addressing assignment problems amidst uncertainty. It employs diverse ranking procedures tailored for PONFNs, ensuring reliability and robustness. Through meticulous comparative analyses, the study demonstrates PONFNs’ flexibility in capturing real-world uncertainties and solving assignment problems practically. The framework’s stability is validated, enhancing credibility and applicability. Overall, the article advances understanding and application of PONFNs in decision-making contexts
