A novel energy efficient model of smart dustbin for waste segregation
摘要
Effective waste management underscores the need for an automated system capable of segregating various types of waste, efficiently distinguishing between recyclable and non-recyclable materials. To date many researchers have proposed smart waste management systems which have been implemented using different technologies and different concepts. This research work proposes a novel Smart Garbage system with unique implementation process. Never has a working hardware model been developed and demonstrated explaining the step wise process of waste segregation. The proposed system uses Internet of things (IoT) based smart bin, which is capable of automatically segregating metallic, dry, and wet waste, and converting the wet waste into compost. The power system used integrates battery and solar panel technology, forming a hybrid energy storage system that can be utilized effectively for both indoor and outdoor applications. When the smart dustbin reaches full capacity, a notification will be sent to authorities, prompting them to empty the bin. Hence, this real-time remote monitoring system promptly alerts the relevant authority about the garbage level in bins, facilitating immediate waste clearance.
