摘要

Long-Covid is a serious public health concern. The often debilitating, unpredictable course of long-Covid can increase risk for new onset of mood and anxiety disorders, particularly for people with prior psychiatric vulnerabilities. Given the prevalence of such affective comorbidity in long-Covid, brief evidence-based mental health interventions may enhance psychological well-being, which can, in turn, alleviate physical symptoms and support functional recovery. Moreover, to overcome barriers in treatment access often present when living with long-Covid (e.g., fear of commuting to avoid re-infection), such therapeutic interventions can be delivered via digital means. This case study illustrates the impact of supplementing standard long-COVID care with a brief course of evidence-based, transdiagnostic treatment delivered virtually and enhanced by digital tools. This brief course of care included emotion-focused cognitive-behavioral strategies along with a single session of Accelerated Resolution Therapy®, an exposure-based protocol designed for rapid relief. Results from this case study highlight the meaningful improvements this approach can make to the lived experience of people with long-COVID.
