Synthesis of catalytically modified biochar (CMB) from apple pomace.

CMB showed high adsorption for Malachite green dye (224.36 mg g-1).

Removal efficiency of CMB was 93.48%, surpassing conventional biochar (CB).

DFT study validated CMB efficiency via HOMO-LUMO gap and chemisorption forces.
