摘要

The total number of microplastics in the Summer season for Al-Duora Road highway and Muhammed Al-Qassim Road highway was higher than in Spring and Winter.

The percentage of distribution for microplastic types showed a high prevalence of fragment and pellet types across the seasons.

The findings revealed that microplastics in the Summer in Al-Karkh District and Al-Rusafa District were higher than in Spring and Winter.

Fluorescence examination revealed various shapes of microplastics including fragments, spheres, fibers, foams, and pellets.

FTIR analysis showed that PP, PE, and PS were commonly abundant in the studied regions, alongside the presence of other polymers such as nylon (polyamide), polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, low-density polyethylene, and polyurethane.
