Review of Influencer Discourse: Affective Relations and Identities. Pilar Garcés-Conejos Blitvich and Alexandra Georgakopoulou, John Benjamins Publishing Company, Amsterdam/Philadelphia, 2024, ISBN: 9789027215994
摘要
This critical review examines Influencer Discourse: Affective Relations and Identities, edited by Garcés-Conejos Blitvich and Georgakopoulou, analyzing how the volume advances pragmatic understanding of social media influencer discourse. The review evaluates the tripartite structure of the book, addressing affect in influencer-fan interactions, and multimodal communicative authenticity practices across subgenres. While acknowledging the methodological diversity, in the colume, which included ethnographic, corpus-based, and multimodal approaches across social networking platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, the review identifies a few analytical gaps. Critical limitations include the absence of influencer typology integration (micro/meso/macro categories), inconsistent conceptual definitions of authenticity and affect, and methodological concerns regarding data representativeness and cross-cultural applicability.
