Das Aufbrechen des Antisemitismus in linken Milieus nach dem 07.10.2023 – Einige Befunde zur unterschätzten Präsenz von Ressentiments in linken Milieus und der Versuch einer gesellschaftstheoretischen Einordnung
摘要
After the clerical-fascist Hamas attacked Israel in October 2023, there was a rapid mobilization in support of the terrorist organization’s goals. From the outset, these goals were driven by anti-Semitic tropes and accompanied by a rapid increase in anti-Semitic crimes and acts of violence. The groups promoting this anti-Semitism see themselves as part of the left-wing political spectrum. Does this mobilization indicate a previously overlooked spread of anti-Semitic resentment within the political left? And what are the possible causes for the occurrence of anti-Semitism in groups whose declared self-image includes norms of justice? Based on data from the Leipzig Authoritarianism Study 2024, we can show that anti-Semitism is also widespread within the left, even if the rationalization of resentment is sometimes different. It is striking that anti-Semitism is more common among younger respondents than among older ones—with the exception of guilt-defensive anti-Semitism. We discuss these findings on a critical-theoretical basis.
