Wer repräsentiert ‚das‘ Judentum im christlichen Religionsunterricht? Überlegungen zur didaktischen Reduktion und Gestaltung von Unterrichtsmaterialien

The topic of this article is the representation of Judaism in Christian (Protestant, Catholic, denominational-cooperative) religious education. The starting point is the question of who represents a heterogeneous religion. This question must be asked for reasons of didactic reduction. Corresponding didactic decisions are made against the background of the relevant didactic discourses (especially on interreligious learning) and diverse and mutually interrelated constructions of self-images and images of others; they also always operate in a field of different power constellations. Based on theoretical considerations and with recourse to textbooks and other teaching materials as well as examples of internal Jewish debates, the question of representation will be problematised. Finally, criteria for a didactic reduction in the context of the question of the representation of Jewish voices in a Christian religious education programme will be developed and discussed.
