摘要

Wastewater reuse, based on clean technologies, contributes certainly to sustainable development especially in semi-arid country like Morocco. However, selecting the most appropriate technology remains complex, as it depends on multiple criteria. Among advanced treatment technologies, membrane-based processes have gained significant attention due to their high efficiency and versatility. In this study, four membrane wastewater treatment processes: the Reverse Osmosis (RO), Membrane Bioreactor (MB), Membrane Distillation (MD), and Forward Osmosis (FO) processes, are analyzed by applying technical, economic and environmental criteria. The technical criterion involves sub criteria such as industrial-scale maturity, process longevity, productivity, energy efficiency, and selectivity. The economic criterion focuses on production and maintenance costs, while the environmental criterion evaluates the ecological impact on human ecosystems. The comparison made between the processes, based on literature data and following the Fuzzy TOPSIS multicriteria decision-making method, showed that RO is ranked first, followed by MD, FO and MB, respectively. The parametric sensitivity analysis coupled with the cross-validation method, performed confirmed the first place of the RO technology. This was attributed to its advantages related to environmental friendliness, high productivity, low operating costs and its efficiency in effectively separating water contaminants.
